Boosting Schooling by Meeting Donor Needs
The Ugandan NGO Volcop faced a major issue where 66% of their sponsored children were about to lose crucial schooling funding due to non-renewal by private donors.
We collaborated with the NGO team to conduct interviews with donors and NGO workers, which revealed the core problem: the organization was not meeting donor communication expectations (e.g., frequent images of the children, transcripts, personalized details, receipts). To resolve this challenge, we designed a new, automated email communication protocol integrated with Microsoft Office functionalities. This solution streamlined procedures and enabled existing staff to effectively manage a large sponsor load. We also conducted comprehensive staff training on the new protocol.
Within two months of application, 100% of the children regained sponsorship coverage. Furthermore, new donor referrals resulted in an amplified funding base, significantly increasing the organization's overall capacity.
